| With a digital camera all the pictures you make are stored digitally, which means you can instantly view a picture after you have taken it and take as many pictures as you like, without having to buy new films all the time. It is easy to download the pictures from your camera to your computer, either at home or at the shop and edit them before printing. Once they are on your computer, you can easily share your pics with the rest of the world by putting them on-line, or e-mailing them to friends. |

Don’t compromise.
The serious photographer's choice The PowerShot Pro1 has an 8.0 megapixel CCD for high-resolution printing up to A2. Its Canon 7x L-Series zoom lens (35mm equivalent: 28–200mm, f/2.4–f/3.5) includes fluorite and UD elements to significantly reduce chromatic aberration. The PowerShot Pro1 features a new hybrid AF system, which together with the Micro Ultrasonic Motor (USM) provides quick, quiet auto-focusing to ensure you don't miss that perfect shot.
Advanced technology The combination of Canon's unique iSAPS technology to optimise shooting settings, high-performance DIGIC processor for fast processing, together with Image Rendering technology for accurate reproduction of colours, ensures every shot is represented faithfully.
Increased flexibility Because every shot is different, Canon has made the PowerShot Pro1 incredibly versatile. There are 12 shooting modes – from Manual to Auto (including 2 custom settings), for greater creative control.
There's a choice of two colour space formats – standard sRGB and Adobe RGB. With a choice of 3 compression rates and 5 resolutions, plus RAW mode for maximum image data recording, you have a total of 16 modes for increased recording flexibility.
As well as total compatibility with the complete range of EX Speedlites, the PowerShot Pro1 has optional telephoto and close-up lenses for you to achieve any desired perspective.
Ergonomically designed The PowerShot Pro 1 is designed to place controls exactly where they should be. Its 2.0" vari-angle LCD is bright, easy to read and tilts to just the position you want. The tough, black body fits comfortably in your hand, while a large grip lets you hold the camera steady as you compose your shots.
Even more choice After shooting, there's a wealth of software including ZoomBrowser EX (Windows) and ImageBrowser (Macintosh) to help you manage and edit your images. You can also use the CANON iMAGE GATEWAY – 100MB of free internet space that allows you to share your images via email. And you can print your pictures without a PC to any PictBridge or Canon Direct Print compatible printer.

Lens focal range
|
|
A cylindrical piece of glass or plastic that receives and focuses light to form an image. Most cameras list an f-number and focal length for each lens.
F-Number: Indicates the size of the lens opening (aperture).
Focal Length: The distance between the image sensor and the optical center of the lens.
Lens Adapter: Allows photographers to use special lens attachments (Macro, Zoom, Filters, etc.) on certain cameras.

Camera CCD sensor
|
|
CCD (Charged Coupled Device): A silicone chip comprised of millions of tiny, square light-gathering diodes called Picture Elements, or pixels, laid out in a checkerboard pattern. This is the "film" of a digital camera. The light data gathered from these tiny pixels needs to be "processed" by the camera's image processor into Recorded Pixels.
Super CCD: A proprietary CCD system, produced by Fujifilm, that utilizes larger, octagonal-shaped, light-gathering diodes called Picture Elements, or pixels, that are laid out in a saw-tooth pattern. Super CCDs can capture more light information than ordinary CCDs; the extra information is used by the camera's image processor to improve color accuracy and ISO Speed.
Super CCD HR (High Resolution): Is capable of nearly doubling the Number of Effective Pixels that are processed and stored as additional detail in the Recorded Pixel file.
Super CCD SR (Sensitivity and Range): Uses a combination of small and large octagonal-shaped pixels to further enhance color accuracy, while improving detail in the areas of shadows and highlights, much like traditional film

Display
|
|
The display technology. Flat screen technologies like Liquid Cristal Display (LCD) and Thin Film Transistor (TFT) active matrix technology are the trend.
In TV technologies one can notice FST (Flat Screen Tube) technology, and ARASC (Anti Reflexion, Anti Static Coating) or AGARAS (Anti-Glare ARASC) or simply AGC (anti-glare coating). The old tv and screen technology CRT means Cathodic Ray Tube. MLA = Micro Lens Array. p-Si=Polycrystalline Silicon. a-Si=Amorphous Silicon.

Interface
|
|
Interface ports to connect pieces of equipment. USB (Universal Serial Bus) has become the most popular wired interface to connect peripherals. USB 2.0 supports speeds up to 480 Mbit/s (USB 1: 12 Mbit/s). The wireless interface FireWire is also known as the IEEE 1394 standard. Enhanced IDE (EIDE)is sometimes referred to as Fast ATA, Fast IDE or ATA-2.
