| With a digital camera all the pictures you make are stored digitally, which means you can instantly view a picture after you have taken it and take as many pictures as you like, without having to buy new films all the time. It is easy to download the pictures from your camera to your computer, either at home or at the shop and edit them before printing. Once they are on your computer, you can easily share your pics with the rest of the world by putting them on-line, or e-mailing them to friends. |

The DSC-V1 is designed to battle against Canon's hugely popular PowerShot G3, Nikon's Coolpix 4500 and Olympus's C-5050 Zoom. The DSC-V1 has a five megapixel sensor and a four times 'Carl Zeiss' zoom lens. This model was built for a special class of photographer who wants ultimate control over the picture-taking process, but who also wants the option to call upon automatic features to help balance

light and exposure. Among the features that will appeal to the purist are: Manual Exposure Controls: Flexible exposure control is provided with aperture priority, shutter priority and manual exposure modes for better command over motion and depth of field. Program-Shift Dial: Situated next to the LCD for easy access, this dial allows the user to select from a range of available combinations of aperture and shutter settings for control over motion and depth of field while remaining in an automatic exposure mode. Five-area Multi-Point Auto Focus: The camera evaluates five separate areas of the frame and intelligently focuses on the subject, displaying the selected focus point, or the user can choose any of the five points for manual control. Hologram AF™ Illuminator: Projects a laser pattern on the subject to create contrast for precise focus, even in low or no light. Multi-Pattern Measuring: Independently meters the light in 49 points of the frame to establish the optimum exposure, even when highlight and shadow aren't centered in the frame. Auto Fill Flash: When the subject is backlit or in shadow, the fill flash automatically fires to provide optimum exposure. NightShot Infrared System: Captures infrared images in total darkness at a distance of up to 15 feet. NightFraming System: To capture crisp images in low or no light, this feature illuminates the subject with the NightShot system for proper framing, focuses with Hologram AF illuminator and lights the scene with the appropriate amount of flash.

Type of lens in this product, expressed as its characteristics including lens, zoom capability, focal length, 35 mm equivalent focal length, and aperture range
Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar lens (equivalent to a 34-136mm lens on a 35mm camera)

Lens focal range
|
|
A cylindrical piece of glass or plastic that receives and focuses light to form an image. Most cameras list an f-number and focal length for each lens.
F-Number: Indicates the size of the lens opening (aperture).
Focal Length: The distance between the image sensor and the optical center of the lens.
Lens Adapter: Allows photographers to use special lens attachments (Macro, Zoom, Filters, etc.) on certain cameras.

Camera CCD sensor
|
|
CCD (Charged Coupled Device): A silicone chip comprised of millions of tiny, square light-gathering diodes called Picture Elements, or pixels, laid out in a checkerboard pattern. This is the "film" of a digital camera. The light data gathered from these tiny pixels needs to be "processed" by the camera's image processor into Recorded Pixels.
Super CCD: A proprietary CCD system, produced by Fujifilm, that utilizes larger, octagonal-shaped, light-gathering diodes called Picture Elements, or pixels, that are laid out in a saw-tooth pattern. Super CCDs can capture more light information than ordinary CCDs; the extra information is used by the camera's image processor to improve color accuracy and ISO Speed.
Super CCD HR (High Resolution): Is capable of nearly doubling the Number of Effective Pixels that are processed and stored as additional detail in the Recorded Pixel file.
Super CCD SR (Sensitivity and Range): Uses a combination of small and large octagonal-shaped pixels to further enhance color accuracy, while improving detail in the areas of shadows and highlights, much like traditional film

Display
|
|
The display technology. Flat screen technologies like Liquid Cristal Display (LCD) and Thin Film Transistor (TFT) active matrix technology are the trend.
In TV technologies one can notice FST (Flat Screen Tube) technology, and ARASC (Anti Reflexion, Anti Static Coating) or AGARAS (Anti-Glare ARASC) or simply AGC (anti-glare coating). The old tv and screen technology CRT means Cathodic Ray Tube. MLA = Micro Lens Array. p-Si=Polycrystalline Silicon. a-Si=Amorphous Silicon.

Interface
|
|
Interface ports to connect pieces of equipment. USB (Universal Serial Bus) has become the most popular wired interface to connect peripherals. USB 2.0 supports speeds up to 480 Mbit/s (USB 1: 12 Mbit/s). The wireless interface FireWire is also known as the IEEE 1394 standard. Enhanced IDE (EIDE)is sometimes referred to as Fast ATA, Fast IDE or ATA-2.
